They are not even connecting to your computer or network, let alone download/uploading anything from you. Copyright trolls are simply recording your IP address in the torrent swarm (you'll be in the torrent swarm as long as you're download or seeding the torrent). So is PeerBlock able to keep these anti p2p companies from searching through your files to see if you have the files and there by prosecute you? If any of you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to post! That is my take anyway, to hopefully put the the discussion to rest. The amount of damage made by one copy is not worth going to court for whilst several thousand copies from a seeder is. I am not worried about receiving the notice, they serve as just a deterrence from you using a p2p network again, and since I was downloading, they don't really care as much because one download is nothing compared to someone distributing several thousand copies. I have looked around the forums and found several saying that a court ruling has said 'an IP address isn't enough.' All it really can be used for is monitoring the communication via the internet your computer is having and blocking specified IP addresses from communicating with your computer. The point is, when using Bit-torrent, PeerBlock does not do anything as your IP is made visible to everyone and will not stop you receiving a 'cease your actions' note in the mail or email no matter if you are seeding or just downloading.

I found several anti p2p companies which I suspect one of which (probably Trident Media Guard) collected all of the IP addressees in the swarm and then alerted respective internet providers and HBO etc. So, I decided to download PeerBlock, not to think that I would be able to get away free from p2p, but to see who was communicating with my computer. I had to re-accept the terms of use for my service and then my internet service was restored. The file in question was obviously a GoT episode. It entailed that I was found on a p2p network 'sharing' a certain file in early April. I've recently received a notification (as well as a hold on my internet access) from my internet provider on my individual account I had to create when moving into my apartment complex.
